Map each component
A paper bowl can be paired with a different lid material; a kraft box can include a window or lining. Record the body, lid, window, coating and handle separately. This prevents a paper label from being mistaken for the composition of the entire pack. Test the intended service
Ask for samples of the exact size and lid combination. Review fit, handling, stacking and presentation with the actual food or drink. Record the temperature and time used in the trial. Do not assume that a similar-looking container has the same construction, or that a trial with cold food establishes performance with hot liquids. Confirm any heating or storage instructions for the selected item before use.
Match the claim to the finished item
Select the documentation after confirming the construction. The certificate library distinguishes finished-product records from upstream material records. If compostability is part of your brief, ask which specification is covered and under what conditions. Then check whether the receiving market has an appropriate collection route. A separate plastic lid must not inherit the claim made for a paper or fibre body.
